Joe Buck est un musicien Américain punk/rock/country du Kentucky. Ses instruments principaux sont la contrebasse et la guitare.
Le premier projet musical sérieux de Joe Buck a été appelé Gringo. À la fin des années 1990, Joe Buck est le guitariste de "Th' Legendary Shack Shakers". Il a aussi joué toute la guitare, la basse et la batterie sur leur album de 2003 Cockadoodledon't.
Il a été le bassiste pour Hank Williams III (country/hellbilly "Damn Band") "la Bande(l'Orchestre) Damnée" et était aussi le membre d'un projet métal/punk de William : " Assjack".
Il est crédité, avec Williams et Andy Gibson, de l'ingénierie et de la production de l'album de William : "Straight to Hell" et semble avoir enregistré des choeurs pour l'album d'Hank Williams III : "Bootleg #3 Pre-Release".
Artiste solo, il voyage internationalement sous le surnom "Joe Buck Yourself" et est représenté par Bucket "City Agency", une agence de booking qu'il a co-fondée.

16 Horsepower était un groupe de rock américain fondé en 1992 par David Eugene Edwards et Pascal Humbert. Il était basé à Denver dans le Colorado, États-Unis, et à ce titre était un groupe éminent du Denver Sound. Il jouait un rock sombre influencé par des artistes aussi différents que John Fogerty, le Gun Club, Violent Femmes ou Joy Division. La musique de 16 Horsepower était également influencée par des mélodies folk des Appalaches, du bluegrass, du gospel du sud des États-Unis, et du folk européen, et était associée à l’Americana music.
Les membres du groupe était : David Eugene Edwards, Pascal Humbert et Jean-Yves Tola (respectivement anciens bassiste et batteur des Passion Fodder). Humbert et Tola possèdent un héritage français très riche qui ressort dans certains morceaux. Le grand-père d’Edwards était un pasteur Nazaréen, et en le suivant il se frotta à tous types de musique Gospel. Cette expérience enrichit son écriture ainsi que sa composition musicale, donnant au groupe son son particulier. Dans beaucoup de morceaux du répertoire du groupe, on retrouve un forte imagerie chretienne, en particulier celle sur la capacité rédemptive de Jésus-Christ.
On peut lui trouver une légére ressemblance artistique avec Noir Désir — d’ailleurs Bertrand Cantat apparaît sur Fire Spirit (reprise du Gun Club, sur l’album Low Estate, ainsi que sur le live Hoarse) et The partisan (reprise de Leonard Cohen, sur l’album Low Estate).
Le groupe s’est séparé en avril 2005. David Eugene Edwards continue avec Woven Hand, projet solo parallèle au groupe, sous le nom duquel il a déjà sorti quatre albums. De leur côté, Pascal Humbert et Jean-Yves Tola jouent sous le nom de Lilium, projet parallèle lui aussi amorcé alors que le groupe était encore en activité. Il est à noter que Pascal Humbert fait de temps à autre des apparitions scènique en Europe avec Woven Hand.
Those Poor Bastards play miserable and primitive old-time gothic country music. Lonesome Wyatt (guitar, vocals) and The Minister (banjo, bass, etc) are both legally certified holiness preachers. If you're looking for slick, overproduced, commercial songs, you'd better cover your delicate little ears. Those Poor Bastards play it raw and they play it mean. Be a pal and support independent anti corporate country music.
