WHAT THEY SAID...

" I've been listening to her CDs and liking 'em a lot. They give me those half awake nightmares. This is really good stuff! Damnation."
LONESOME WYATT,THOSE POOR BASTARDS -

- " I really love her music. It's great, musically and vocally.A bit of Joy Division smashed into Lydia Lunch, but it isn't a rip-off of either. Nice videos, too. It's all great, but " Noisi(h)er Silence" is honestly phenomenal. I'm impressed and even more honored by the fact that she likes my music. "
ZEBULON,SONS OF PERDITION -

- " The instrumental tracks and her voice are unusual and special. If she used a real drummer everything would be perfect."
RHYS CHATHAM -

- " Madame B composes pieces which are so flavourful as the original New York No Wave's productions. If the good fairy bend little over the cradle, she has everything to become the French Lydia Lunch"
YG,EX DADA'S NOISE -

- " Her stuff is crazyyyy! "
OTTO VON SCHIRACK -

- " Twisted thoughts and angry incantations over wonderful mechanical clattering and surreal washes of sonic gloom. Moody introspection and brooding sensuality. Deeply personal music from a true artist."
GUILTY STRANGERS -

- " On a minimalist music, Madame B proclaims her cries of pain or hope to create an obsessing haunting atmosphere, which takes us far, in a dark and melancholic world. A different sound which is worth it. "
COLD WAVE YEARS -

NEW ALBUM MADAME B - FROM DARKNESS, THE LIGHT

Free download my new album Madame B here :

http://www.zorchfactoryrecords.com/latest-releases/184-madame-b-sees-the-light-and-shows-the-way.html

"From Darkness, The Light" is the latest release from Madame B and is a fine specimen, indeed! It is almost instantly reminiscent of the 80’s experimental side and features pieces from minimal (dark)wave to raw experimentation. No two tracks are alike and it’s sure to keep your interests peaked! The overall sound is characteristic Madame B, but for those of you just joining the party, it’s vaguely as though Einstürzende Neubauten meets early Attrition with and adds a twist of unpredictability. Get your tickets here and hear the show! G."

MADAME B & DRUNKEN C ( chronique + videos )

SISTER DOLOROSA - Madame B and Viktoria Matthews 's song/video

The lady in the dark is looking for a spark
May her sorrow be only a shadow...

Are you bleeding Sister Dolorosa
Is it tears in your hands?
Are you crying Sister Dolorosa
Is it blood in your hands?

Arms open , she's looking after you
Arms open , she will confort you
She will take your tears
She will take your fears
She'll swallow your sorrow

Are you bleeding?
Are you bleeding Sister Dolorosa?

May your pain be only a rain.
Let it drain.
Let me contain your pain.

Are you bleeding Sister Dolorosa
Is it tears in your hands?
Are you crying Sister Dolorosa
Is it blood in your hands?

Madame B's New Video : SKIN and BONES

Like Paul Clayton's Murder Ballads, this is a collection of traditional (or newer songs that sound traditional) folk songs performed by a solo singer accompanying himself on guitar. Gitter's singing is much more animated, however (the liners say his screech at the end of "Skin and Bones" wrecked the studio microphone). The lively "Finnegan's Wake" is a highlight. Cover art fans should note that the haunted house cover is by Charles Addams. The album was recorded in 1957.

MADAME B MEETS GUILTY STRANGERS 's free album

By "Zorch Factory Records" :

Madame B can't stop doing music and likes to collaborate with talented musicians. This meeting with the Americans of Guilty Strangers that recently released a full-length album here shows once again how interesting the mix and confrontation between different musical universes can be. Post-punk tunes, experimental waves and batcave inspired melodies are brought to new highlihts in this record anyone should enjoy!

Info and download here : http://www.zorchfactoryrecords.com/

By "Vault 106" :

Madame B meets Guilty Strangers is a collaboration between French D.I.Y. experimentalist provocateur Madame B, and U.S. post-everything gloomrockers Guilty Strangers. While elements of both factions' previous works can be found here, there are some unexpected turns into musical territories unexplored by either artist before this release.

The collaboration took part via email exchanging of tracks, and took shape over a very short period of time. Madame B described the working process as "quick, true and passionate...and so real!"

CAMP Z + MADAME B

Seduced by each other’s feeling, references and way of walking the musical underground, Madame B and Manu/Zorch decided to unit their forces to release this multi-colored mid-length record, driving the listener from raw garage punk to experimental sounds. Freedom has been the moto for this creation full of spontaneity. The duo also invited Joy Disaster's Nicolas Rohr to ignite some of their songs with its powerful guitar!

ALL TOMORROW'S PARTIES DOCUMENTARY ( site here )

All Tomorrow’s Parties is a DIY concert film featuring performances from an eclectic mix of some of the most influential artists including: Battles, Sonic Youth, Belle And Sebastian, Grinderman, Iggy and the Stooges, Portishead, Mogwai, Slint, Grizzly Bear, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The Gossip, Daniel Johnston and The Boredoms.

The film is a semi-found bricolage made from Super8, camcorder and mobile phone footage contributed by over two hundred filmmakers, fans and musicians over the festival’s recent history, with key contributions from Jonathan Caouette (Tarnation) and Vincent Moon (The Take Away Shows, Arcade Fire).

All Tomorrow’s Parties is a fiercely independent festival that many music lovers regard as one of the most important music events in the world. In an intimate and communal atmosphere, free of corporate sponsorship, it serves up a heady combination of alternative music, crazy golf and chalet-living, with musicians and fans living side by side. At each festival a band or artist is chosen to gather up their favourite artists who perform over a weekend in an out-of-season holiday camp by the sea. Sonic Youth’s Thurston Moore described the festival as the ‘ultimate mix tape’.

Instrument - Ten Years with the Band Fugazi

A voir absolument!

Steve Miro And The Eyes

steve miro and the eyes Pictures, Images and Photos

STEVE MIRO AND THE EYES est un groupe post punk des early 80s originiare de Manchester. Steve Miro etait un des fondateurs de "Object Label".

Steve Miro (vocals, guitar), Jimmy Carter (bass), Delroy Smith (saxophone), Brian Martin (drums).

Band's discography:
Dreams of Desire 7" (1979)
Rude Intrusions lp(1980)
Second Sentence lp (1981)

Spherical Objects were an important representative of the Manchester, UK-based experimental independent post-punk scene of the late 70s (including other more or less experimental groups like The Passage, Steve Miro & The Eyes, Tirez Tirez and Grow Up). All these bands were hosted under the Object Music record label. Many of them shared musicians, thus the movement looked more like a musical collective (actually, there was indeed a Manchester Musicians Collective, started by Dick Witts of Passage).

Leader and heart of the band was Steve Solamar (real name Steve Scrivener), a distinct song/lyrics writer with a « terrible voice » (as many fans would say). However, this twisted voice adds even more to the idiosyncratic character of the music.

In summer 1978, they recorded their first LP, « Past And Parcel », which sounds more diy than everything they did afterwards. Their best came with « Elliptical Optimism » (1979) and « Further Ellipses » (1980). The former still keeps contact with punk and 60s garage sound. « Further Ellipses » puts more emphasis on ultra-romantic melodic synth tunes (The « Final Part », « The Root »), a small share of Latin guitar melancholy and production perfectionism (as possible as it could be on those small record labels). Nevertheless, tracks like « Set Free » betray the strong influence of rhythm & blues; unusual for a British post-punk band of that period.

In 1980, Solamar collaborated with Steve Miro as the Noyes (i.e. « noise ») Brothers, to produce more experimental music forms. They recorded a double LP (« Sheep From Goats »), which was far more unconventional than anything they had created with their own bands. Other Solamar projects were Warriors and Alternomen Unlimited, while John Bisset Smith was involved into Grow Up (all recording for Object Music).

In 1981, Spherical Objects recorded their last LP, « No Man’s Land ». It was a return to more archetypal rock forms like those perverted and twisted in « Elliptical Optimism ». However, the vigour and inventiveness of the latter were notably lacking.

Unfortunately, not a single word of news exists after 1981 about Spherical Objects or Steve Solamar except that, (according to Simon Reynolds « Rip It Up and Start Again: Post Punk 1978-1984 ») he changed gender (now known as Shirley).
