At it's core, beneath the smoke, haze, dragging guitars, and broken reverb pedals the Desolation Singers' music is a slightly tweaked, very gothic take on country music. To be sure, Neddal Ayad and Sophie Nadaud are rockers at heart. And neither of them seem entirely comfortable around an acoustic guitar, but listen close and weaving it's way through the songs on The Blood Between Us is the ghost of that beautiful F-C-G progression that forms the backbone of hundreds of songs of heartache and lust. They sidestep into the most primal blues with a cover of the traditional John The Revelator and are joined by timeMOTHeye (Timothy Renner) on the murder ballad Shaking Tree. Neddal plays guitar in the does, makes noise with Amanda Votta/The Floating World in Secrets To The Sea, and records solo as The Great Attractor. Sophie Nadaud has released several solo records as Madame B, plays in the duo Les Enfants Sales, and has collaborated with numerous people including Camp Z, Sons of Perdition, and Guilty Strangers.

La chronique de VERTIGO

Tout véritable fan de rock est capable de se réinventer un passé de concerts fantasmés. J’ai même récemment rencontré un type de trente ans qui, l’alcool aidant, se souvenait d’avoir vu Joy Division aux Bains Douches…
Si néanmoins vous n’avez pas eu la chance de vivre à New York entre 1974 et 1983 et si vous regrettez de n’avoir découvert que tardivement les artistes de la scène locale de l’époque qui pour la première fois donna un véritable statut aux femmes (de Patti Smith à Kim Gordon en passant par Debbie Harris, Tina Weymouth, les sœurs Scroggins et Lydia Lunch) alors jetez une oreille sur les productions de Madame B et Drunken C.
Celles-ci n’ont rien à envier à ce qui se faisait de mieux à l’époque.

Toutes deux sont des adeptes du Do It Yourself et du LoFi, des championnes du Less is More et des personnalités protéiformes aux projets multiples (Les Enfants Sales et The Desolation Singers pour Madame B, nombreuses collaborations pour Drunken C).
Les morceaux de leurs CD (qui sont en téléchargement gratuit chez Zorch Factory Records) ont souvent un côté expérimental mais là où tant d’autres s’égarent et nous font ch*** copieusement, elles agissent en orfèvres et nous offrent de véritables petits bijoux sonores.
Chez Drunken C, les ambiances sont proches de celles des morceaux les plus mélodiques de Sonic Youth (Mary is dead since, Dream Evil, Rumor across the town…)
A l’écoute de Madame B, c’est plutôt à Lydia Lunch que l’on songe (I am the worst, Rock And Roll -une étonnante cover de Gary Glitter- )
Ces comparaisons (pas flatteuses car plus que justifiées) pourraient donner l’impression qu’on ergote sur leur originalité, ce que démentira l’écoute de morceaux tels Toc Toc Toc de Drunken C ou I am sorry that I hate you de Madame B.
Evidemment, elles ne viennent pas de New York, ni de Berlin, de Londres ou de Manchester mais du sud de la France. Je veux quand même croire qu’elles se frayeront leur chemin et j’espère qu’en 2040, je croiserai un type d’une trentaine d’années qui, l’alcool aidant, me certifiera les avoir vues sur scène en 2011."

Madame B's New Video : SKIN and BONES

Like Paul Clayton's Murder Ballads, this is a collection of traditional (or newer songs that sound traditional) folk songs performed by a solo singer accompanying himself on guitar. Gitter's singing is much more animated, however (the liners say his screech at the end of "Skin and Bones" wrecked the studio microphone). The lively "Finnegan's Wake" is a highlight. Cover art fans should note that the haunted house cover is by Charles Addams. The album was recorded in 1957.

ROSA CRUX ( site ici )

Rosa Crux est une formation musicale majeure de la scène gothique française originaire de Rouen. Le style est sombre, mélancolique, rituel et parfois assez martial. Ils chantent en latin.

Toujours actif depuis sa création en 1984, Rosa Crux se distingue par une musique hors norme et un jeu de scène particulier. En effet, le groupe élabore de façon artisanale les instruments et machineries qu'il utilise sur scène : Carillons d'église, batterie de tambours automate et autres machines qui pourraient sembler venir tout droit de l'atelier de Léonard de Vinci (Jeux de fers).




S'inspirant des écrits d'Antonin Artaud, les concerts de Rosa Crux sont systématiquement ponctués de performances exécutées au milieu du public sur le thème du corps en souffrance (Dance de la Terre, Homme dans la Cage) créant dans la salle des situations proches de celles d'un sacrifice.

Jouant sur la dualité et le paroxysme, les paroles chantées ne sont pas écrites par le groupe mais extraites d'œuvres antiques : textes liturgiques ainsi que formules ésotériques.

Le groupe se revendique du style "Dark Ritual" et reconnaît des influences aussi bien dans la grande musique Sacrée que chez certains groupes des années post-punk ayant abordé le rituel ou le paganisme sur scène (Virgin Prunes, The Moon lay Hidden Beneath a Cloud).

Depuis 2006, le groupe a signé avec le label allemand Trisol.

1995: Olivier Tarabo invente un procédé électromagnétique lui permettant d'actionner des baguettes de tambour de façon tellement précise, qu'il reproduit d'une seule baguette un roulement de tambour d'un niveau de conservatoire. BAM, comme Batterie Automate Midi, est actuellement composée de huit futs et de deux cymbales et accompagne systématiquement et en exclusivité le groupe Rosa Crux sur scène depuis cette date."...avec cette invention, plus besoin de batteur, une baguette animée par éléctroaimant et gérée par un programme midi offre une dizaine de forces de frappe différentes et une rapidité qu'aucun humain n'est capable d'atteindre ..." la BAM a remporté le prix « Innovations et Inventions pour le Son » (Trophée Louis Jouvet au salon du SIEL 2001).
